Week 6: Feb 15 - 21

 

Overview

 

Participants will go on field trips to other virtual worlds. Participants will be asked to reflect on what they have experienced during the course and to share their ideas with everyone about good practice. People will also be encouraged to continue learning and sharing through the SLExperiments group meetings.  In this final week, there will be a guest panel of virtual worlds language teachers.

 

Learning outcomes

 

By the end of this week, you should:

  • have visited other virtual worlds (optional, because they are not available for all computer platforms).

  • have posted your reflections about your visit of these virtual worlds.

  • have attended the panel discussion.

  • have reflected on what you have experienced during the session.

  • have shared ideas about good practise with other participants.

     

 

SL skills required

Activities

 

  1. Join Graham on a field trip to There and Twinity (see links below) — two other popular virtual worlds. Compare SL with There and Twinity and post your reflections in the Ning forum 

  2. Attend one of the panel discussion and be prepared to ask questions. This is the panel: Howard Vickers, Nergiz Kern, Graham Stanley, Kip Yellowjacket, James Abraham, Evelyn Izqierdo

  3. Post your reflections on your experience  during this session in the Ning forum for this week: tlvw.ning.com/forum/topics/week-six-final-thoughts.

  4. Post and discuss with other participants your ideas about good practises in teaching languages in Second Life in the Ning forum.

Optional Readings/Viewings/Activities
